What is the quickest and most efficient method of learning a new language? French specifically.?
My wife and I are looking to learn the French language. We have both learned secondary languages (I speak German and my wife Spanish) and feel that French would be a good choice for a third language. Unfortunately, we are both busy professionals who don’t have time to take a class from a local university. Any recommendations?

Learn French Over The Internet – The Most Effective Learn French Method!
Learning French or any other foreign language require methodology, perseverance and love. In this article, you are going to discover a unique learn French method.
1- Travel To Paris
Flight and learn… Many will swear that it is the best method to learn French.
Beware! It’s not always right. Actually, even if you are in France, there are a lot of factors that can prevent you from becoming fluent.
For instance:
1- Lack of preparation
2- No transportation available (from your home to the French class)
3- Too much time enjoying your trip!
4- Lack of motivation
5- Non effective teacher
6- And many others…
Plus, this option is expensive since you will have to take the plane, sleep in a hotel, pay for your transportation… Not easy!
2- Go to your local community class
This is an other excellent option. With the first learn French method above, you were in a pure French immersion though.
When you learn French in your local area, you can be sure that you are going to speak English most of the time… Be sure to choose a real French native speaker.
This is easier than the first method, but for sure less effective.
3- Learn French from home with a software, cd, book…
This third option is cheaper and effective as well. Plus it can be a complement to any of the third options we saw above.
This method is usually cheaper and more comfortable because you can learn the French language at your own pace, and even while you are commuting!
There are only two difficulties:
1- You need to choose the right learn French software (or cd).
2- You need to arm yourself with motivation.
The Learn French Method that I recommend is the following:
First, get in touch with a French native speaker (you can find him over the Internet). Then, get a French course on the Internet as well.
If you have enough money, spend some time in France (or any French speaking country), and buy a dictionary. A Learn French software can only help you.

Learn The Most Common Travel Phrases In French
The French language is considered to be one of the most beautiful and easy to learn languages in the world. Additionally, French is also in the top five most wide spread international languages, and is used in numerous countries and regions around the world. Although its grammar and sentence structures are not hard to learn, the French language itself differs quite a lot from English, so don’t expect to be able to learn French language completely within one a month. Most people that start to learn French language after finishing their studies, usually do so because of their jobs that might require them to use French when working with foreign contributors. While it is considerably harder for adults to learn French language, or any other foreign language for that matter, than it is for young children, it is something that can be achieved in just a few months. People searching for classes where they can learn French language have a wide selection to choose from as there are numerous companies offering this type of services. If you only intend to learn French language for travel purposes, than your efforts will significantly smaller, and you most probably will not require the services of a costly personal tutor. The internet provides us with pretty much every piece of information we may need, and this includes all the resources you might need to learn French language, including professional tutoring services, software applications and many more. The first thing you should do is evaluate your needs well and decide upon a method to learn French language. For travelling purposes, when you only want to learn travel phrases, you may only require a small software application containing all the travel phrases you might need during your travels. There are software manufacturers that offer applications which really easy to use, and many of these applications come with full mobile support, meaning that you will be able to have immediate access to the desired travel phrases directly from your mobile phone or smart phone. Other more advanced, and consequently more pricy, applications provide full capabilities allowing you to learn French language on your own without needing help from tutors. These more advanced applications include audio reproductions of the language, and will teach you the correct pronunciations. Considering the number of opportunities and options that are at the disposal of any person wanting to learn French language, the best advice is to go for the alternative which suits your needs best. If you are used to working long hours and obviously could not be able to respect classes with strict time tables, then your best bet is to go with online tutoring services or software applications for travel phrases or the full learning experience. Also, before making your final choice you should orientate yourself around price ranges, reviews, and other aspects. The 5 Things You Need Most in Your French Software Program
When you’re searching for the best French software program you want to maximize the benefits that learning French on your pc can give you. There’s no point buying French software that’s little more than an online book, you need interactivity and playability. The more you get involved with the software the more your new French language skills will stick.
I’ve broken the requirements down into the following 5 “must haves”:
1. You must enjoy the experience. Learning French should be stimulating.
Take a look at what’s being offered in your French software program. Does it look a bit dry and dusty or does it look fun. I know advertising techniques can sometimes fools us, and they might make something look great that isn’t, but if it starts out looking dull you probably want to leave it. It is possible to learn French while being bored to tears but it’s much better if you’re enjoying yourself!
2. You need achievable goals and the “feel-good” factor of making progress.
Although you obviously want as comprehensive a French course as possible, for fast and easy learning you want bite-sized chunks so you can clearly see that you’re progressing. It’s no good if something just hammers at you repetitively like you were back at school. Good French learning software should feed you small parcels of information that you can absorb and retain. You want a feeling that you haven’t just read something or listened but that you’ve actually learned it.
3. You need audio, visual and written components.
Seems kind of obvious that French software would provide both spoken and visual content – it’s not doing much in the way of interactivity if it isn’t. However, you also want written transcripts of the spoken French that you can print out. Not only are these useful for reading when you’re not at the computer but reading whilst listening massively reinforces your learning.
4. You need portability for learning French wherever you are.
French learning software now encompasses products that are supplied on CD, products for direct download to your PC and those which can be studied entirely online. In most cases you can record sections of spoken French onto a CD or MP3 so that you can use it on the go, but beware – make sure you’re not paying for sound files in a format that you can’t play away from the computer. To be on the safe side, always go for MP3.
5. You need support – because no French software program has all the answers.
Unfortunately the majority of French language learning software offers little or no support – and no matter how good the program is, there’s going to come a time when you have questions that it just can’t answer. Rocket French is the only one we know that currently provides (a) a direct email to one of the course writers and (b) a free member forum. It’s not as good as having a one-on-one teacher, but it’s pretty close!
One final tip. If you can, get a free sample of your French language software before you buy. Some do, some don’t. It’s nice to hear the voice of the person who’ll be teaching you French and to read samples of their writing style, or to judge French lesson content.
